Choose your Meru itinerary
Momella Route — 3 Days
Mount Meru's only official trekking route, climbed fast — reaching Socialist Peak at 4,562m through wildlife-rich forest, moorland and volcanic ash slopes, with an armed ranger alongside for the lower buffalo and elephant country.
Momella Route — 4 Days
Our most-recommended Meru itinerary — the classic Momella route with an added afternoon hike up Little Meru (3,820m), giving your body a genuine altitude boost before summit night and noticeably improving success rates.
Momella Route — 5 Days
An unhurried five-day version of the classic climb — with a rest day at Miriakamba to visit the Ngurdoto Crater viewpoint and extra time built in around the Little Meru acclimatization hike, ideal for families or first-time high-altitude trekkers.
Meru Sunrise Summit — 4 Days
The same well-paced 4-day structure, built specifically around summit sunrise — walking the knife-edge crater rim past the Ash Cone as the sky lightens, with Kilimanjaro often visible across the plains on a clear morning.
Meru Pre-Kilimanjaro Climb — 3 Days
A fast, efficient 3-day Meru summit designed specifically as a warm-up before Kilimanjaro — the altitude exposure meaningfully improves acclimatization for climbers attempting Kilimanjaro within the following week.
Little Meru Taster Climb — 2 Days
For travellers short on time, a two-day taster that reaches Little Meru's 3,820m viewpoint — sweeping views over the Momella Lakes and Kilimanjaro in the distance — without committing to the full Socialist Peak summit push.
